My Soul Will Rejoice

Today's card was inspired by a couple of challenges... the Our Daily Bread Shining the Light challenge to make a shaped card, and this week's Deconstructed sketch for a circular card.  I also wanted to play along with the Paper Smooches LoveFest challenge on SplitCoast, so my card needed to be either cute and fun or classy and elegant.  I chose classy and elegant!

I chose this beautiful verse from the set Easter Blessings as my focal point.  What a blessing to be able to share God's Word with others on our cards!

I used a Standard Circle die to cut out my cardbase, and then added a scalloped mat and a layer of designer paper from the MME Bluebell 6x6 pad.  The colors in this pad are so warm and inviting!  I stamped my sentiment and hand cut a banner, then diecut the different parts of my flower with the Blooms Three dies.  I sponged the edges of my patterned paper with ink to give a little more definition, and then put my card together, adding a little gold string under the flower to add a little sparkle.  A few rhinestones on the flag and my card was complete!

Stamp Simply - Lovely

I had so much fun playing with a beautiful kit of Jessica Swift Blomma products by Anna Griffin from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store yesterday!
There were papers, tags, rosettes and flowers in such pretty colors that I didn't know what to make first!  I ended up with this simple but classy card that let me use three of the items - paper, rosettes and tags - all together.  I love it when that happens!  I'll work with the parts separately later!! ; )

I cut the circle into my cardstock first, making sure that my rosette would be able to fit through the opening.  Then I lined the inside of my card with a piece of the pretty paper cut down to size.  After cutting, I had a tiny strip left that fit that I added to the front of the card to ground the "Lovely" tag.

And there you have it...
Clean and Simple and perfectly "Lovely"!

Viva La Verve - Week Four

This week's Viva La Verve inspiration photo was difficult for me.  i don't usually use such striking colors!  I pulled out one of my favorite Plain Jane's, my Loopy Blooms dies, and the flourish-y circle from Small Celebrations and went to work.  Here's my card with the sketch and the inspiration colors...

Call Unto Me

Just a quick card tonight with a Verve Plain Jane and some gorgeous dotted ribbon from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I laid down a wash of color with my Distress Markers onto a square of watercolor paper that I had scored with my Scor Tool.  Then I stamped it with a Plain Jane inked up in various colors and attached it over some dotted ribbon to my embossed card front.  A few mini pearls and it was all done.  Quick and easy... my favorite!

Pretty Poppy

I got a box in the mail yesterday from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store with a VERY special Valentine's gift from DH... Distress Markers!!  Of course I had to play with them right away!!!  Our Daily Bread Designs had a challenge to CASE a designer that you admired, so I looked for a card I could CASE that I could use my markers to color... you see how my mind works?? : )  A designer's work that I just love is Korin Sutherland, and I found the perfect card to CASE!!  Here it is...

I pulled out two ODBD sets from Stamp Simply - Mother's Day and Grow in Grace, and got to work.  First I cut out my panel from Ranger Watercolor Paper, then I stamped the Poppy with Versafine Onyx Ink and let it dry.  I watercolored it using the Distress Markers and a small paintbrush, then doodled the edges and embellished it lightly.

I'm sure you'll be seeing a LOT of the distress markers around here over the next few months.  I love the assortment of on trend colors and how easy it is to color larger images without using up an entire Copic marker!!

Stamp Simply - Baby

Aren't baby cards fun to make?  You can use such soft, pretty colors!  Today's card was inspired by this photo from the Shabby Tea Room Challenge.

I pulled from the shabby chic look, the colors, and the baby theme to come up with this...

My stamps are from two different JustRite sets that are bundled right now at Stamp Simply...  Bundle of Joy Vintage Labels Five  and Special Delivery.

I cut out a frame from some Secret Garden Patterns and Solids paper with the Spellbinders French Frills dies.  The other side of this particular paper is a blue pattern, but this side is such a pretty mottled cream.  Perfect for the shabby chic look!

I stamped my background with the JustRite Rose Garden Background.  I used different colored inks... though not on purpose!  The stamp is red rubber, so I didn't notice that I hadn't cleaned it off very well the last time!  Oh well, it was a happy accident, because when I (re)inked it with the soft blue it gave a pretty variegated background with all the colors from the inspiration photo.  I love it when that happens!

I threaded my die cut frame with some seam binding and added a few Lippy Red rhinestones to finish it off.

Think Spring!

I put this sweet little 4.25" square card together while my pizza was in the oven for lunch. : )  The flowers (from Hoppy Easter) had been colored for another project but I didn't end up using them, and they looked like the perfect starting point for this week's Viva La Verve sketch!  I paper pieced the little chick from Egg-stra Special and matted him on some stitched elements cut with dies from MFT's Blueprints 3 and 12, as well as a flag cut with Fishtail Flags Layers.  The adorable gingham dp is from the Secret Garden Patterns and Solids pack from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Have a wonderful weekend, if I don't see you tomorrow.
And THINK SPRING!!

: )

Hello Sunshine!

Verve's Diva Dare challenge this month has the theme of "Perk Up"!  Well, nothing perks me up right now more than a sunny day! : )

I used the bunny from Hoppy Easter and a sentiment from Joyful Blooms on my card, along with some dies from MFT - Blueprints 2, Blueprints 12, and Upsy Daisy.  The embossing folder is by Paper Studio and the ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

MFT Sketch Challenge

I just adore the new flower in MFT's Blueprints 12 DieNamics!  I layered a number of them together to make the pretty larger flower in the cluster here.  The smaller ones were made with the Mini Rolled Roses DieNamics.  I followed (sort of!) this week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch and made a saying from Cheerful Blessings my focal point.  The paper is Authentique Cherish from Stamp Simply.

OK, I think three posts for today is enough, but I have certainly enjoyed playing in my craft room today! : )

Happy Valentine's Day!

Never Forget

MFT came out with SUCH a pretty new "Forget Me Not" set this month, that I just had to ink it up as soon as it came in the door.  I used the sketch from The Shabby TeaRoom, and the colors from this month's Color Challenge at MFT.

Supplies:
Blueprints 12, Forget Me Not Set and Dies, Kraft, Berrylicious, Black Ink, Scallop Ribbon Border, cardstock - MFT
Buttons, Harvest Gold Ink - PTI
Stitched Rectangle Die - Lil Inker
Ribbon, Gold Cord - The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi everyone!

I needed one more not-so-girly valentine to give my son today, so I pulled out the Carta Bella Well-Traveled paper again and found a piece that looked like newsprint.  Of course, it needed a FEW hearts, so I stamped one of the frames from the JustRite Black Eyed Susan set and trimmed it out.  The sentiment is from JustRite's Hugs and Kisses.  By the way, the Hugs and Kisses set has a Mother's Day sentiment, too, which is coming up soon!  Just sayin'! ; )

I cut out one more heart from patterned paper, and then I gave in and added some Lippy Red rhinestones.  I know they aren't very manly, but it's Valentine's Day!  At least I didn't put a big sloppy bow on it!   LOL!!

Birthday Wishes

I'm back today with another orange card!  I really gravitate toward that color, I think! : )
I used a pretty springy piece of designer paper from the Kaisercraft Spring Bloom pad as my base, and then stamped a piece of creamy white cardstock on an angle with the Filigree Leaves Background.  My birthday greeting, from the Birthday Wishes For You set, is stamped in the smallest of the Elegant Labels 4 Dies, and I sponged it lightly with kraft ink before removing the paper from the die.  The GORGEOUS deep orange ribbon is called "wrinkled ribbon" and it has the look of seam binding but it is a little stiffer and makes lovely bows.... when bows are called for!

I needed just a little something more, and with the flowers and vines on the card already, a butterfly seemed just right, so I stamped the butterfly from the Black Eyed Susan set on white cardstock and cut it out by hand.  I added a few pearls and some stitching, and there you have it.  And easy to replicate birthday card!  I need to make a few of these for my stash!

Viva La Verve - Grace

Stamps:  Surely Goodness, New Mercies (Verve)

I just love Verve's selection of Scripture verses and their gorgeous flowers.  And I'm learning that there is something to be said for having matching dies for flowers.  I can cut out flowers easily, I know, but I like how perfect the edges look when I use the dies.  It really makes your work look more "professional". : )

I used the Viva La Verve sketch for this week and was sure to add in some flowers so I could play along with the Inspiration Challenge as well.

Sunnier Days

My card this morning features lots of goodies from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store starting with the JustRite BlackEyed Susan set.  I thought the sentiment was PERFECT for right now.  I would love some sun.  It's COLD outside!!! : )

I used some Authentique Cherish paper to piece my background and to make some flags.  I fussy cut my flowers and colored them with copics, making a little bouquet for the edge of my sentiment panel, and then I added some Dotted Sheer ribbon and Kaisercraft pearls as embellishments.

Challenge:  Justrite Friday Challenge - Flowers

Have a sunny day!

MFT Mod Squad

I used two MFT sets on my card today.  A sweet PI, that I think is retired, and a sentiment from the Blissful Butterflies set.  For DieNamics I used Fishtail Flags Layers, Stitched Circles, and the sweet bow from Blueprints 3.

The dp is Authentique Cherish from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and my glitter of choice is Stickles on her cheeks and on the heart. : )

Timeless Love

It's been a number of weeks since I've been able to play along with the Flourishes'  Timeless Tuesday challenge, but this week everything fell into place with this card that uses this week's sketch from SCS.  I used one of my favorite stamps - the tulip bucket from the April Showers set - and a stamp from my very first Flourishes set - Tag Lines.  I colored the bucket with copics and then die cut it with the Floral Ovals die.  The papers are from the Carta Bella Well-Traveled collection.  Aren't they gorgeous?  I cut the strips, flag and ticket using elements from MFT's Blueprints 1, 2, and 3 DieNamics and added a couple of Kaisercraft Rhinestones for a little added bling.

You can find the linked products at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store!

Stamp Simply - Sufficient Grace

My Stamp Simply card for today features the pretty Grow in Grace set by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I stamped the flowers in a color that matched the paper I had chosen from the Kaisercraft Spring Bloom paper pad, and then stamped the sentiment right over the top.  I cut and embossed my image using a Spellbinder's Labels One die and added a couple of Melissa Frances pearls on the side.  The pearls that I used were cream, so I just colored them with my copics to get the pretty bluish-green that I wanted.

I wrapped my card front with some seam binding and then added both a sheer ribbon and seam binding bow.  Simple... yet elegant!

I had the current Our Daily Bread Challenge in mind as I made today's card...
L - Labels One Die
O - Orange
V - Verse
E - Embossing

An Afternoon with KnK Designs

I chose this sweet image from KnK Designs Always Friends to go along with the Hot Cocoa theme in the Curtain Call picture, and colored it with copics.  My sentiment came from another KnK set Spring With Duncan.  My paper is MME Bluebell (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).  I used the Stitched Circles, Blueprints 4, and Scallop Ribbon Border DieNamics from MFT.

Here are another couple KnK Designs cards I made today just for fun...

Refuge

I'm back!  This week over at the Mod Squad Challenge we were asked to CASE a favorite designer's card.  Well... I've had this set of cards by Julee Tilman in my bookmarks for awhile and thought this would be a perfect chance to put my own spin on it.

I chose a red, black and white colorway, but made my card full size instead of square because I needed room for the verse I wanted to use.  I stamped the background tone on tone with the single daisy from the newest Stamp TV kit (Really, I did!  It's hard to see though!) , then used the double daisy in black as my focal image. I stamped a Verve Scripture verse in red and added some red rhinestones and a polka dot bow for some bling. : )

I hope you have a wonderful day!  I think we're getting snowed in here... how lovely! : ) I can stamp and stitch and bake all day.  It makes me happy!!!
