A Fabulous Birthday

Today's card was for last week's sketch at My Favorite Things.  These aren't colors I would usually choose, but I'm trying to use up my pile of dp... : )

BTW, her shirt isn't paper pieced.  I colored it with copics and added some fine dots with an SU marker.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Back in Time

I had a lot of fun using up some scraps of older SU cardstock today.  I wanted to make a card for the Flourishes challenge to have an image "fall off the edge" of the paper.  I stamped the bouquet on the Turquoise cardstock in Turquoise ink and the embossed the bottom third or so.  I covered the break with my little bit of bouquet that I had colored with SU markers and stamped a little thank you flag.  A little stitching and you have a clean and simple (and bright!) card!

A Timeless Birthday

I had a chance to make a card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday birthday challenge this afternoon, but I didn't have a lot of time, so I grabbed the first little pile of cardstock I saw on my desk and stamped on it! : )  The little flower image is from Autumn Bouquet and the sentiment is from Mix n Mugs.  I colored with copics and just played around, adding layers, stitching and embossing until I was happy with it! : )

Thanks for dropping in today.  My mom is in the hospital right now, so my blog might be quiet unless I can carve out a minute or two to play, like I was able to today!

Blessings!

Rhubarb's Sunflower

Yay!  It's Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge day again!!  Be sure to hop over to the Digi Blog and see all the great cards by my fellow DT members.  It's so fun to work with these wonderful images!!

Today's challenge was STITCHING, so I made sure to add some to the layer under Rhubarb.  He and his sunflower are colored with Copics and cut out with an Oval Spellbinders die.  The sentiment is from the Serve in Love digi sentiment set and is cut out with an open scallop circle die and then sponged with saffron ink.  I do hope you'll play along with the challenge.  SNSS digis aren't required, but we'd love to see them!!!   Don't have any yet??  Hop over to the Sweet and Sassy store and take a look around.  There are SO many to choose from!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings!

10 Minute Thursday

Hello everyone!

Guess what!!  I am thrilled to bits to be today's 10 Minute Guest Designer on the Flourishes blog!   You've all heard of "Your 15 Minutes of Fame"... well I've only got ten, so let's get started! :)

Today's card uses a quick and easy watercolor technique to make a simple stamped image look complex.  I started by pulling together some coordinating cardstock from my scrap pile.  The size of my kraft-ish cardstock wasn't quite A2 size, so I trimmed it down to a 4"x4" card, and then I stamped the large bouquet from Autumn Blossoms with dye ink onto the cream cardstock.  Using a tiny paintbrush, I simply went around the edges of the image with water, and then touched my paintbrush to some of the other shaded areas in the bouquet itself to darken them.  After I stitched around the edge of the matted image, I stamped a sentiment from Summer Blossoms on a little piece of Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock to finish off this quick fall creation.

Be sure to stop by the Flourishes Blog next week for another 10 Minute Tip!!

A Note for You

Today's card was really fun to put together.  I used the Wednesday Sketch challenge at My Favorite Things for the layout and then just played with some retired SU designer paper and some MFT dies.  Dies really are a fun way to add some "pizzaz" to your cards!   If you look up on top, the two pearls over the embossed half-circle look like a smiley face. : )

Our Daily Bread Challenge

I must have been feeling very orange today!  Orange is one of my favorite colors - especially at this time of year.  It is a happy color and this is card has a happy sentiment for me.  To know that God's grace is completely sufficient no matter what the circumstances is so comforting when I'm faced with a circumstance or person that makes me stressed or anxious.  How wonderful to be able to rest in Him!!  I followed the sketch at Our Daily Bread for my layout and used the Grow in Grace set for the flowers and sentiment.  I stamped the flowers in Soft Suede ink and then watercolored them very lightly with Tombows.  I was surprised that the ink didn't run, but it actually held up pretty well on the GP #110 cardstock I was using.

Meet Pippin!

Hello Friends!

It's time for another Sweet n Sassy Digi challenge!! But this week we have some extra fun -- the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Team is having a blog hop to introduce you to the October Digi Release!! Be sure to leave some love on each of the blog hop posts, ok? One of the ladies below is a mystery blogger (I don't even know who!!) and she will be picking a random winner from the comments on her blog post to win the ENTIRE October Digi Release! Ready for a card???

Meet Pippin Penguin, Sweet n Sassy's new digital darling!!  Be sure to complete the hop, because this is just one of the wonderful new digis available at Sweet n Sassy today!! : )

I colored Pippin with ProMarkers and Copics and followed an old sketch that I found in my "go to" sketchbook.  I needed some metal, of course, since that is today's challenge at the Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog, so I added a few brads to the corners.  The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, and the DP is from MME.  The sentiment is from the SNSS clear set "Cocoa's Gift".

OK, here's your hop list so you can be in the running for that prize!!

A Very Merry Timeless Tuesday

My Timeless Tuesday challenge card for today was termed "odd" by my daughter, but I really like how it turned out! : )  I stamped the holly from the Flourishes set "Meet me under the Mistletoe" on a Labels 5 die and colored it (quickly) with copics and then added a sentiment from the same set.  The background is embossed with snowflakes.  I added a few ink speckles, some twine and a couple of pearls to complete my quick and easy (and odd!) card. : )

In Appreciation

Isn't it fun to get a card that says someone appreciates you, or one that thanks you for a job well done??  Well, that's your challenge for today over on the SNSS Digi Blog!!  Create a card of appreciation AND... use something that you've hoarded in your stash. : )  I used some of my twine.  I actually have quite a bit of it, but it almost hurts each time I pull it out, because sooner or later I'm going to run out!   Isn't that silly!!

The digis that I used today were Rhubarb's Cuppa Joe and Hot Cocoa Sentiments.  My dp is from a stack of retired Stampin Up paper that I won this summer.  That paper has been such a blessing!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, and don't forget to grab your digis and play along!

Naturally Sweet

Just a couple of Flourishes challenge cards to share today!  The first challenge was to make a card that had to do with nature.  I chose fall colors, a spray of flowers from the Autumn Blossoms set, and some twine.  It's just a 3x3 card, but I thought it would be a nice note to tuck in a college care package!

The next challenge was to make a card featuring a sweet treat.  I don't have any Flourishes stamps that would fit the bill, so I used a Sweet n Sassy stamp and a sentiment from the Flourishes Passion Flower set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Inside and Out

I needed a card with a Scripture verse for an order so I used the Proverbs 3:5 Plain Jane from Verve, and bordered it with a flourish of flowers from the Summer Blossoms set by Flourishes.

The Flourishes gals have challenged us to make a card that is decorated inside and out, so I'll show the inside here, too.  I hardly ever decorate the insides of my cards, but I do like the look!

A Blessing!

Happy Fall, Y'all! : )

Guess what!  I have the privilege of joining the Design Team for the Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog for a few months! Today we have a fun BINGO challenge to share.  Here's the board...

I used the adorable Rhubarb's Autumn Day digi for my card and colored it with Copics.  I used a Deckle Spellbinders Die to cut out my image and some little buttons (well, actually they are button brads, but I'm counting them as buttons!) on the bottom.  I added some embossing to finish out my BINGO row and added a sentiment from the SNSS Blessings and Thanks clear set.  I'm also entering this in the HYCCT Strip Challenge at SCS since I used a strip of paper to anchor my image.

I hope you'll be able to play!  Just link up your card on the blog when you're ready.  Any digis are ok, but we'd love to see your Sweet n Sassy digis if you have them!!!
