CDS Sneak Peek Day 4 - The Perfect Will of God

Each month or so, Clear Dollar is releasing a "Value Verse" and so far I have loved them all. Tomorrow you'll be able to order this month's offering -- Romans 12:2. I remember learning this verse as a little girl, and it has become the passion of my life. Knowing Christ means not just believing that He died to save me - but it means constantly becoming less and less like the world around me and more and more like Christ. Focusing on Him. Renewing my mind daily in God's Word, and finding my true joy and satisfaction in Him. My goal this year? I want to be a living example of God's perfect will - a "Christian" in the truest sense of the word - a light in a world that needs hope, and a blessing to those around me. How about you??

Don't forget that there are other peeks available today and that you can start to order these designs tomorrow!! See you next year!!

CDS Sneak Peeks - Day 3 - Smiles and Tears

Bwahahaha! Isn't he adorable??? This is the Mini Monster stamp that is being released on Friday, paired with the You Make Me Smile stamp from last month's release. Remember most single stamps are only a dollar or two! It's a great way to expand your collection without breaking the bank. My mini monster is paper pieced with some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper to match the rest of the card.

From smiles we go to tears with the new Pet Sympathy set.

I kept both of my cards very understated and muted in tone, using ivory naturals cardstock, twill and papers from the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird line. The little pawprint is stamped on mulberry paper and cut out. Hmmm.... I used my mulberry paper a lot this month! Good for me!!

My second card shows the versatility of the sentiments included in the set. While this would be a wonderful pet sympathy card, I think it would also be appropriate for a husband or wife who had lost their spouse of many years.

I honestly wasn't sure how often I would have use for this set, but within days of requesting it some friends' dog died and they were devastated. Next year, I think I'll make a set of cards for my dog's groomer for Christmas. I'm sure it is a gift she would appreciate.

There's lots more to see today! Be sure to stop by the other designer's blogs!!

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peek - Day 2

My first card for today combines two single stamps that will be released on Friday, River Scene, and Psalm 23:2. I stamped the River Scene on a piece of watercolor paper and used markers and my Niji waterbrush to watercolor the image. After putting together the card, I stamped the sentiment on a piece of cream mulberry paper and frayed the edges before attaching it to the cardfront. I don't watercolor all that often, but I just love how vibrant the colors are!!

The second card reminds me of autumn, with it's earthy colorway. I used the set Bee-Lieve and stamped the flowers on some rust mulberry paper for the background, then I stamped the mail image on white cardstock which I then cut out with the Labels 5 die. To soften the white, I sponged on some rust / pumpkin ink while the cardstock was still in the die. The little bee charm is my favorite addition. :-)

Ready to see more samples??? Check out my dt sisters!! They'll be sure to WOW you!! Then come back tomorrow for day 3! See you then!!

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peek - Day 1

Wheeeee!! It's sneak peek time again for Clear Dollar Stamp images that will be released starting January 1st! Oh, there are some cute ones that you won't want to miss - believe me!!!

My first card uses the set Charlie Sledding. Isn't that duck just as sweet as can be?? I had fun with this one! First I stamped Charlie and the sentiment on a square piece of white cardstock. Then I stamped him again, colored him with Copics and cut him out - and his hooves, too. Before I attached him to the base, or added the snow drifts, I ran the background piece through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder, so it would look like it was snowing. Then I made some snowdrifts out of white mulberry paper, attached Charlie and added some glitter. Doesn't it look like fun??

The next two cards are made with the new set Home is Where the Hearth Is. You really have to go to Lori's blog to see the full reveal of the set to appreciate how versatile it is. Wow! If you enjoy building scenes, this one is definitely for you!!!

For my first card I used the mantelpiece of the fireplace to make a shelf. I added candles and greenery and books (so it would look like my house!) and the finished it with a $1 (or so) extra verse stamp that is being released this month as well (Joshua 24:15b). No ribbon and the vintage feel would make this appropriate for a masculine card as well!

This is my absolute favorite card this month. Doesn't that fire look cozy?? I love the intricate details and how all the parts fit together so well. And since they are clear stamps, they are a cinch to line up!! You've really *got* to go look at the complete set!!

BTW, have you been to Clear Dollar Stamps lately??? There are some incredibly awesome specials going on right now that you won't want to miss!!! The prices on the clearance items are amazing!!

Don't forget that there are 3 more days of Sneak Peeks! You won't want to miss a set! Here's a list of today's designers. Be sure to drop by to see more samples - and the other adorable sets and singles that are being previewed today as well!!

PTI Blog Hop - Christmas Inspiration

Tonight's Papertrey Ink blog hop is all about holiday inspiration. And because I got some wonderful Christmas gifts, (I hope you did to!!!) I decided that my inspiration would inspire me to make Thank You notes. :-) Here's my inspiration piece. This is one of my favorite decorations... a little quilted wallhanging that I made 5 or 6 years ago. I love the scene and how the fabric above the snowmen makes it look like it is snowing.

So... taking the idea of the snowy background, the trees and the stars, I pulled out my Vintage Picnic basket set (since I don't have the Holiday Button bits set or Pine's snowman set yet) and made a set of Thank You notes... which I will start writing in as soon as I schedule this post... LOL!!

(Colored with Copics, DP - Frosted Collection by Fancy Pants, Ballet Blue Ink, Large Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestibilites Dies)

And after I finish the thank you notes I can figure out how to spend the Christmas money that my wonderful husband gave me. He enjoys watching me try to decide what fun things I want most, since extra money that I have to spend on me (not on the kids or groceries or vet bills, etc., etc.) doesn't come around all that often. And I give him much amusement as I hem and haw. Should I get a new stamp set, or some copics, or a set of nestibilities? Wait - maybe I should get paper and buttons. But which ones? I can't afford them all! But what about that cross-stitch kit that I've really wanted? Or the Tiny Treats set? Which would I use more? But I really *need* some more cardstock, cuz I'm out of some colors - or maybe I should get some copic refills - but that's not as much fun...

And on and on it goes. Maybe I'll win a set tonight and it will cut down my options some!!

If you have a minute - I'd love to hear your favorite crafty Christmas gift!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Garden Walk - Winter Wonderland

Welcome to the Paper Garden Projects Winter Wonderland Garden Walk.

Take a stroll through the blogs of all the Paper Gardeners and enjoy some wonderful wintry inspiration.

While you visit, subscribe to each Gardener's blog and take note of each designer's name and their Secret Snow Word in their blog post. Once you finish your garden tour, send an E-mail to custserv@papergardenprojects.com with the list of designers and their Secret Snow Word.

Everyone who sends the correct list of designers and words will be entered in a random drawing to win a special frosty prize. You need to send an e-mail to the address above; please don't leave your list as a comment. You have until midnight (EST) on Dec. 21 to sent your snow-y list.

Here is a picture of the Frosty Prize full of paper crafting goodies.

The prize includes:

So put on your mittens and go for a garden tour (or just stay in you jammies - we won't tell). Here is the garden tour guide list:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Secret Snow Word is... PURE

And here is my project... a little portfolio box made with the little Skater from Eat Cake Graphics and lots of the paper and embellishments from the Frosted Winter Paper Kit - all available at Paper Garden Projects. Be sure to scroll down for the tutorial!

Here's the front of the box. I paper pieced the little girl's dress and then colored her with Copics. She's cut out with a Labels 5 die and I sponged the edges with Soft Suede. The sentiment is computer generated. The paper, brads and ribbon are from the Frosted paper kit, and the flower is from my stash.

Here's the back of the box...

And here's the inside!! Mmmmm...... :-)

OK... I haven't done many tutorials, so you'll have to bear with the not-s0-great pictures. LOL! Hopefully you'll get the idea and be able to whip up a few of these to package those cards or goodies you're planning to give away next Thursday!! :-)

1. Choose a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock for your base. I used a piece of Prism Crabapple Dark cardstock that was included in the Frosted Paper kit.

With the 11" side of the paper touching the top of your Scor-Pal and the left corner of the cardstock lined up at 1/4" (this is important!!), score your cardstock at 2 1/2", 3", 7 1/2", and 8". Then turn your cardstock so the 11" side is touching the left side of the Scor-Pal, and, with the cardstock tucked in the corner, score at 1/2", 1", 7 1/2" and 8".
If you look at the picture above, you'll see that there are three sections. You will cut on the inside score lines down the long sides until you reach the "shortest" section. (see the picture above)
Trim your bottom section as in the picture above. You should be able to click on it to see it better.

Decorate your box as desired...

Apply Scor-Tape to the outside flaps...

Add a Basic Grey magnet. I actually put the top magnet under the button on the top flap, so there was cardstock between the two halves of the magnet. It helps to get it apart later. Those magnets are strong!!

And there you have it! You can fit about 4 (lightly embellished) cards and envelopes in the box, or lots and lots of stamped images, or maybe a candy bar or two, or even a couple hot chocolate packets, mini marshmallows and some peppermint stir sticks like I did above. Yum!! :0)

Thanks for stopping by!! Don't forget to grab my word and then walk over to Debbie's
garden for her project!!

Blessings!

Christmas Box

One of my sisters-in-law loves stamping as much as I do, so I decided to stamp some images for her to color as part of her Christmas present for this year. And, of course, fun stamped images deserve some sort of stamped packaging, right?? I dug through my file and found a *very* old plastic template for a card portfolio. When I say very old, I mean old as in before sticky tape, designer paper, and scor-pals. That's why this template ended up in my file. I loved it, but it didn't fold well and I couldn't get it to stay together! The only problem this time, was that the dimensions were off. Hmmm.... I played with it a little bit to make it Scor-Pal friendly and voila! a cute card portfolio. I suppose you're wondering if I'm going to share the pattern with you. Of course! But not today. :-) You have to come back on Saturday for the Winter Wonderland Blog Hop and I'll have a tutorial for you... Deal??? :-)

For the front of the box, I used a sweet image that my blogging friend Tammi sent me (have you seen her work?? It's *fantastic*!!) - the Gorjuss Girl with a fox. I just adore this image!! I colored her with copics and cut her out with a Labels 5 die. Then I sponged around the edges with Soft Suede. I used more of the Graphic 45 Christmas Past paper that I won from Simon Says to decorate both the front and back of the box. Along with some vintage ric-rac and a Prima poinsettia.

Here's the back view...

And a peek inside... You can see the Basic Grey magnet that I used to keep it closed. One note on magnets - don't rely on the self-stick adhesive. Use a glue dot. Trust me on this one.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you'll stop back on Saturday for the tutorial!!

Blessings!

Christmas Tag #2

It's getting closer! Just 11 more days! Isn't it fun to get gifts together? I love to wrap packages. If I could do it for a living, I would. In fact, when I was about 11, I remember putting a sign up on the refrigerator saying that I would wrap presents for a small fee. Over the years I remember wrapping lots of presents... I don't remember ever getting that small fee though. Hmmmm... but I digress...

I used the little skater guy from my Let's Go Skating set today and colored him to match the gift bag. I pulled out a really old Stampin Up stamp for the sentiment and then cut out the whole thing with a Classic Rectangle Nestie. The scalloped layer, the final layer of cardstock, the dp for the snowflake, the ribbon and the dewdrop were all included in the Frosted Winter Paper Pack. I added the bright red paper and button to match my bag. I am having so much fun with these stamps! And the best thing is that I don't have to stop using them when Christmas is over - since they are winter-y and not "Christmas-y".

Off to wrap some more presents!

TTFN!

Christmas Thanks

After Christmas comes thank you notes, so I decided I'd better get a head start. I just love this little girl from Eat Cake Graphics. Cathy has her in a set over at Paper Garden. If you hurry, you can still get her before Christmas! All of the ribbon, designer paper and cardstock (except for the kraft cs) was from the Frosted Paper Kit. Cathy puts together wonderful paper packs! It's a great way to get cardstock, embellishments and designer paper that goes together well and fits into your budget!

Here's the card details...

I wanted to play along with the Saturday Spotlight Challenge that Paper Garden is sponsoring this week, so I picked "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" as my theme music. I colored the image with copics, then added the "blue glow" around her with a Light Aqua prismacolor pencil and some OMS. If you click on the picture you might be able to see that I added some shimmer to her hat with a Stardust gel pen. I punched my image out with the Super Jumbo circle punch, and then punched out the pink layer with the pink scalloped circle punch... I think it's Mega, but I can never remember!! The layer between the two punches is hand-cut. The size of the card is 4.25" square and the sentiment is by Clear Dollar Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings!

Christmas Tag

In between paroxysms of coughing this afternoon, I was able to finish this little tag for my Dad's Christmas present (and also for the challenge on the Stamp Shoppe blog!). Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure what his present will be yet, but I do have the tag ready! LOL!! For the past 5-7 years I've bought my dad a certain type of chocolate covered cashew brittle made from an Amish recipe and sold at our local craft fair. But this year, that table wasn't there. sigh. I was so disappointed and I'm afraid Dad will be, too. It was so good that he would open the package a little way and then go hide it so he didn't have to share it. LOL!! Good memories, at least.

I hope your Christmas preparations are coming along nicely. We put up our tree yesterday and it's so pretty! Now I'm ready for it to be Christmas!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Henry Mouse

I can't help but love little Henry Mouse from Whiff of Joy. Isn't he just precious making his cup of hot chocolate??? I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday for the layout. Nothing too difficult about this card so I'll keep it short! Have a wonderful day!!

Post Office Presents

The ladies at our local post office are so sweet to me when I bring in my pile of packages for GraceWorks each day, so I wanted to make them something a little extra special. I used my Vintage Picnic Basket set from PaperTrey Ink and stamped the baskets with the strawberries on some Lemonade & Blue Jeans dp by On the Dot. After stamping and coloring the envelopes, I punched them out with the Super Jumbo circle punch and then attached the colored baskets. I used the pink scalloped circle punch (I can never remember if it's mega or giga...) for the green layer. I used the reverse side of the paper for the bottom of the notepads and attached ribbon and buttons here and there to make them pretty. Here's a closer view of the baskets...

Michelle Wooderson would be so proud of me for mass producing. Of course, she doesn't really know who I am... but she would be proud of me if she did - especially since I followed her tutorial and since I detest mass producing!! LOL!! I certainly do feel like I got a lot accomplished, though. I may have to try this more often!!

Have a wonderful day! It's a big winter storm here. SO pretty!!!!!

Blessings!

Christmas Notebook

My cross-stitch-a-holic daughter asked for an altered notebook for Christmas. Isn't this the perfect image????? :-) She also likes purple, so I had to dig through my stash to find the only purple dp I had. I believe these papers are from The Angel Company. The image is a Happy Hopper that I colored with Copics and the sentiment is from Papertrey. Quite the mix, huh??? I'm so pleased with how it turned out that I really don't want to give it away. Sigh. Don't you hate it when that happens??

Here's the whole notebook...
I ended up covering the back and the inside of both the back and front covers. The only thing I forgot was to add a ribbon bookmark. Rats. Next time!! :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by and for the sweet comments that you leave. You all are truly a blessing to me!!

Blessings!

Sister...

Oh, I had so much fun putting this card together!! It reminds me of my three kids when they were little. My oldest had the long hair, my second always wore hers in two pony tails and little brother (who is now taller than both of them) just tagged along. When my daughter saw the card she did remind me that I should have given the little brother pink gloves, since he always had to wear the hand-me-downs. Seriously! I have pictures!! :-)

These adorable images are part of the Let's Go Skating set by Eat Cake Graphics that I got from Paper Garden Projects, and the paper is from PGP's Frosted Winter Paper Kit which has designer paper and cardstock and ribbon and embellishments. I just love it!!!! I can't wait to make more cards with it - there is so much paper I haven't used yet! LOL!!

The sketch is Julee's Mojo Monday sketch for the week, flipped on its side. It was just perfect for this little scene. Thanks Julee!!! BTW - for some reason the colors are showing up better on SCS... It's here if you want to see it a little better!

Stamp Shoppe Magnolia Challenges

The Stamp Shoppe had a fun Magnolia Blog Hop the other day and I really wanted to play along with their challenges, so I made some time this afternoon to color a few Magnolias. The first card is for the sketch challenge. I'll admit that I ... ummm... fudged a little, but I think it's still recognizable!! :-) I used my new Christmas Past Collection papers that I won for all the cards. I just love it!!
The next card is an easel card. I hadn't made one of these before and I think they're harder for me because I have to decorate the inside, too!

For my Christmas card with a non-Christmas image I used an Easter image... Tilda with Lamb. We were talking about Jesus, the Lamb of God, in church this morning, so I think this image works perfectly on a Christmas card!

Here's my pocket card... complete with a Starbucks gift card (that I hope someone will refill for me for Christmas!!)

And then the card CASE'd from a DT card. I cased the layout from this card of Jeanette's. Thanks for looking!!!

Clearly Inspired Winter!

It's Friday! And time for another Clearly Inspired Challenge!! Today's challenge is easy -- Create a card with a Winter theme. I used the December Stamp of the Month set, Critter Log, (which is yours with only a $30 order this month - instead of a $50 order!!) along with stamps from the Snowman Wishes set - all by Clear Dollar Stamps. The hardest part about this card for me was decided what to use to make snow on the branches, since I don't have any Flower Soft or Liquid Applique. I finally just used my white gel pen. Necessity is the mother of invention - or so they say!!

Thanks for stopping by today. I really hope that you'll join us for the challenge. You have a whole week to enter - and Lori is really quick at shipping if you want to snap up this cute Stamp of the Month set to make your card with!! :-)

Here's my card info...

Stamps: December SOM, Snowman Wishes
Ink: Memento Black
Markers: Copics
Cardstock: Ruby Red, PTI Chocolate, PTI DP
Tools: Sewing machine, Scrappers Floss, Brads, Labels 5 Dies, CB Snowflake Folder, dimensionals, gel pen, prismacolors for sky

Cross Stitch Tuesday

Good Morning everyone! Have you done all your shopping for the new releases at Clear Dollar Stamps yet?? Weren't those just the *cutest* stamps??? Today I'm taking a break from cards to show some of my Cross Stitch Works in Progress and Finishes (hopefully) in Progress for this week. I joined a cross stitch Yahoo Group just recently because I have *so* many projects that I need to work on and I thought it would be fun to have some encouragement - just like we encourage each other in our card-making.

I have two works in progress. The first one is by Little House Needleworks, and is called Blessed are the Meek. This one I work on for about 15 minutes every afternoon while my dd makes her daily stop at the library.

The second work in progress is an Heirloom Stocking from one of the old Cross Stitch and Country Crafts magazines. It's called Stitcher's Studio. I can only work on this one an hour or two a week. My goal is to have it done by next Christmas for DD. I actually had another stocking half finished for her before I realized that either the threads or fabric were giving me hives on my hands every time I worked on it. Maybe I'll post it another day as a Christmas giveaway!

The two things I would like to finish this week are this little Lizzie n Kate dog cross stitch - it's for dd#2 for Christmas.

And this adorable Shepherd's Bush sheep. I think I'm going to have to save my pennies for more of these kits. I just love how this one turned out. I'm going to try to make an easel (flat fold?) with this one - which I haven't done before, so I hope I don't ruin it!!!

Thanks for looking! I'd love to hear what handmade items you're working on for Christmas this year!

Blessings!

Final Day of Sneak Peeks!

Seriously now, isn't that frog just the cutest thing??? He's from this month's Stamp of the Month set called Critter Log. You won't want to miss it!! Remember, you can't buy this set, but you can get it FREE with an order of only $30.00 this month! It is *so* cute and it will be one you'll use over and over and over. Remember, though, the special is only good for the month of December, so start making your wish list now!!! BTW, aren't those big eyelets fun? I found some "vintage" ones in a basket of my Grandma's sewing things. I think they were actually to reinforce the holes in belts, once upon a time! My crop-a-dile sets them perfectly, and I just love the look.

The last set I have to share with you is actually 4 separate stamps - Patchpal Angel, Patchpal Heart, Patchpal Star and the You are an Angel sentiment stamp. I colored the angel with copics and added some glitter to her wings and some clouds to the sky. The heart can be seen stamped as a background on the pink, the sentiment is stamped on mulberry paper, and the star is hanging by some gold cord. I decided to make a notebook instead of a plain card, so I cut some copy paper down to size and stapled it into my cover. Then I stamped each page with the angel in pink. Wouldn't this be a fun gift for a little girl??

So, are you all ready with your wish list??? :-) We can order tomorrow! Happy Shopping!!

Here are the rest of the designers' links... be sure to give them some love in the meantime!! :-) Thanks for stopping by!!

CDS Sneak Peeks Day Three - Flowers & Verses

Hasn't this been fun so far?? I love this release!! Do you have a wish list started?? I do! Today I have a card with Ladybug Flower and the sentiment Don't Let it Bug You. I think we could all use a card with that on it from time to time! I actually pulled these colors from an "inspiration book" that I keep on my desk. It has color combos with pictures from old SU catalogs, sketches from blogs I visit and some other project ideas. I don't keep up with it very well, but every once and awhile I remember it and add to it. The colors I used were sand, moss, red, suede, and brocade. I sponged some lines on the moss for a background and used my deckle nesties and swiss dots cuttlebug folder on the brocade. I even used hardware! :-) The ladybug is colored with copics, surprise, surprise!! LOL!!

I think this card is one of my favorites from this release. It's so clean and simple. Lots of white space - but it really sets off the verse... Luke 1:37. The vase of flowers is from an older CDS set called Thankful for You. I paper pieced the vase, and then colored the flowers with Copics.

Be sure to see all the other fun creations from the other designers! See you here tomorrow for the last day of peeks and another of my favorite cards!
